The Rivers Trust
The Rivers Trust is the umbrella
organisation for 65 member trusts across
England, Wales, and Ireland working to
make their shared vision of wild, healthy,
and natural rivers a reality. The Rivers
Trust supports the guardians of rivers,
and mitigates the impacts of climate
change and pollution, through creating
habitats, managing soil and monitoring
water quality. It also works to increase
the resilience of rivers through better
catchment management and naturebased solutions. In the last year, its
movement has opened up over 500km
to fish passage, and installed over 1000
natural flood management measures.
The Rivers Trust is Hogan Lovells’
dedicated UK Charity Partner, and during
the three-year strategic shared value
partnership, HL BaSE will support The
Rivers Trust’s wider goal of protecting,
restoring and enhancing our freshwater
ecosystems for people and wildlife
through pro bono legal advice. In 2024,
HL BaSE advised members of The Rivers
Trust across the UK and Ireland.
“The review support and advice given
by HL BaSE has been invaluable in
ensuring our contractual documents
and agreements are fit for purpose
in support of our environmental
initiatives. The confidence we now have
in these fundamental documents will
help with our aims to scale up the SCP
to help reduce pollution pressures on
Lough Neagh and Northern Ireland’s
wider freshwater environment.”
