Sustainable Fibre
Alliance (SFA)
Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA) is a
non-profit membership organisation
representing a global alliance of supply
chain actors, stakeholders and industry
experts with a mission to drive positive
change in natural fibre value chains.
Working with the end-to-end supply
chain, connecting livestock herders to
brands and retailers in the global fashion
industry, it aims to minimise the
environmental impact of cashmere and
other animal fibres, safeguard livelihoods
and improve animal welfare standards.
Lawyers from our Beijing and Shanghai
offices collaborated to provide corporate
legal advise to SFA as part of their
expansion to China. HL BaSE assisted
in reviewing documentation between
SFA and its key partners, such as the
International Cooperation Committee
of Animal Welfare of China Association
for the Promotion of International
Agricultural Cooperation, which governs
and is instrumental to their cooperation
in developing the SFA Sustainable
Cashmere Standard. This standard helps
tackle sustainability challenges in the
production of cashmere, such as the
welfare of goats and their herders.
