One component for reducing emissions is
electri昀椀cation, but this requires modernization
of the grid as well as decarbonized electricity.
By now, electri昀椀cation rates among major
industrialized nations range from 13% to 25%
(target being 50%), with Norway leading due to its
reliance on hydroelectricity.

In contrast, countries like China, Australia, and the
United States still depend heavily on fossil fuels,
particularly coal and natural gas.
